The First Descendant Hotfix Fails to Fix Crashing Issue for PS5 Players

Nexon has rolled out The First Descendant‘s update version 1.2.4, which includes introducing Ines Raya to the game and offering free rewards as a token of apology for the extended maintenance period. Regrettably, despite the introduction of new content such as Ines Raya, Lunar New Year skins, and other exciting features, many players of The First Descendant are experiencing issues post-update, even after the application of a hotfix.

New The First Descendant update screws PS5 players

Since the launch of update 1.2.4, numerous PlayStation 5 gamers have encountered issues making The First Descendant unplayable. For some reason, after the patch was released, TFD has been crashing for many players on PS5, sometimes even before they could enter Albion.

At 5:30 AM GMT on January 17th, Nexon published hotfix 1.2.4b, but contrary to what was stated in the short update, it did not resolve the crashing problem for PS5 users when they connected to TFD. This fact has been acknowledged by the developer on Discord.

On the game’s main Discord channel, Nexon announced at 7AM GMT that the problem with the PS5 version of the game crashing, which was thought to have been fixed with Hotfix 1.2.4b, is still occurring. They are currently investigating the cause and will work to resolve it as swiftly as they can.

Many devoted gamers express their disappointment, often sharing their concerns on Reddit. Numerous PlayStation 5 (PS5) users have reported that the game abruptly shuts down upon entering Albion, while some encounter problems even when trying to start the game. A potential solution involves downloading and playing the PS4 version of the game, but this isn’t a perfect alternative.

It’s truly disappointing for Nexon and the PlayStation gaming community that update 1.2.4 of TFD has been delayed. Besides the exciting additions like Ines Raya and Lunar New Year skins, there are also new features such as weapon cores, overhauls for Valby, Luna, and Jayber, among other enhancements. Here’s hoping that the problem gets fixed quickly so PlayStation players can jump in on the fun.
