Busta Rhymes accused of assault in Brooklyn
On January 10th, in Brooklyn, Busta Rhymes, a renowned rapper and Grammy-nominated musician, is being charged with assault following an incident at a luxury condo in Dumbo. The altercation allegedly occurred when Rhymes physically attacked his 50-year-old assistant, Dashiel Gables, after the latter was using his phone during work. This confrontation resulted in a violent outburst from Rhymes, leaving Gables with noticeable facial swelling.
After the recent event, the rapper, whose birth name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., willingly surrendered to the Brooklyn police on January 12th. He was indicted for third-degree assault and given a summons to appear in court for arraignment. The probe continues, and further information may surface as the case progresses.
Concerning Gables, he’s decided against making any public statements regarding the issue. His attorney has suggested he avoid engaging with the media. In his words, “Perhaps later, perhaps in the future. I can’t jeopardize my case, man. It’s not worth it. An article versus a six or seven-million-dollar settlement?
