The cast for “Scream 7” keeps expanding, according to reports from Deadline, as it appears that Joel McHale will be joining the terrifying production.
In the upcoming series, McHale is cast as Mark Evans, who takes on the role of Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott’s husband. This adds to the Prescott family, with Isabel May joining the cast as Sidney’s daughter.
McHale is primarily recognized for his contributions to comedy, where he featured on the NBC sitcom Community and anchored E!’s The Soup from 2004-2015. Despite this, he has ventured into the horror genre, making appearances in Deliver Us from Evil (2014) and It’s a Wonderful Knife (2023). His latest role is in the Fox comedy series Animal Control.
Who else is in the Scream 7 cast?
Currently, details about the upcoming movie are being tightly guarded, but McHale has been added to a cast that’s expanding. Together with McHale and Campbell, Scream 7 will welcome back Courteney Cox, who will once again play her character Gale Weathers within the franchise.
Mason Gooding will reappear in the series as Chad Meeks-Martin, while Isabela May has been added to the production to portray Sidney Prescott’s daughter. Additionally, McKenna Grace, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Celeste O’Connor, and Anna Camp have all joined the film’s cast as well.
The journey leading up to Scream 7 has faced some turbulence. Recently, Melissa Barrera was let go from the franchise by Spyglass Media Group due to her public statements concerning the Israel-Palestine dispute. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Barrera shared how challenging that period had been for her.
Barrera expressed that it was indeed challenging, as he found himself in a rather hazy mental condition, yet he considered himself incredibly lucky. He received an abundance of support from those around him – his team, especially his publicists, who were instrumental in keeping him afloat during this period.
Following Barrera’s dismissal, it was also reported that Jenna Ortega left Scream 7. This decision came before Christopher Landon officially announced his departure from directing the film in December 2023. As a consequence, Kevin Williamson, who wrote the script for the original Scream and its sequel, will now be at the helm for this upcoming project.
