First Look At BioShock And Borderlands Veterans’ New Game Wartorn

Stray Kite Studios unveiled a sneak peek at their upcoming creation, the original game titled “Wartorn”. Notably, this studio boasts veterans from acclaimed games such as “BioShock”, “Borderlands“, and “Age of Empires” on its team.

Prior to this, they were involved in the development of “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands” One-Shot Adventure at Gearbox and 2K. Now, they have moved on to create a role-playing game of their own in the fantasy genre.

War-torn narrates the tale of two elven siblings on a quest to rejoin their loved ones. To achieve this goal, they must endure and overcome numerous hardships along the way.

In this game, although there’s a significant focus on combat, it won’t be as intense as other games. However, dealing with both external and internal conflicts, as well as grappling with moral quandaries, will also play a crucial role.

Creative director Paul Hellquist stated:

Wartorn challenges players to navigate the chaos of a divided world while finding purpose and joy in selflessness. We’ve poured our hearts into creating a game that not only entertains, but also makes players think deeply about sacrifice, survival, and the bonds that unite us.

In this upcoming game, you’ll find an engaging roguelike experience with environments that can be destroyed and a dynamic battle system. This system is influenced by elements such as water, fire, electricity, and how they interact and respond to one another.

Enhancements, gear, and fresh skills empower the player to venture into uncharted territories and become more formidable, while the elf sisters grapple with discovering meaning in their lives amidst a fading realm.

Wartorn will be available for early access via Steam and Epic Game Store in spring of this year.

What do you think about the game we played? Did any previous projects from the developers catch your interest? (or) How did you feel about the game, and were there other games made by this studio that caught your attention before?
