Babygirl’s Harris Dickinson Reveals the Line He Didn’t Want to Say to Nicole Kidman

Harris Dickinson admits there was a particular piece of dialogue he hesitated to deliver towards Nicole Kidman’s character in the movie “Babygirl.

Last month, the erotic thriller film “Babygirl” from A24 was unveiled in U.S. cinemas. This movie is helmed by director Halina Reijn, who previously worked on “Bodies Bodies Bodies”, and features Nicole Kidman as Romy Mathis and Cassie Dickinson as Samuel.

As a gamer, I’d say: In that movie, I find myself playing the role of Romy, the boss lady at a tech firm. There’s this kid, Samuel, who’s an intern, and we… well, let’s just say sparks flew! The age gap and office dynamics made it complicated, but we couldn’t resist each other. We danced around power dynamics while trying to keep our secret from Romy’s husband, Jacob (Antonio Banderas), and her two daughters. It was one heck of a rollercoaster ride!

In an interview with The Drew Barrymore Show (as reported by TheWrap), John Dickinson revealed a scripted line he felt uncomfortable delivering towards Nicole Kidman’s character during their scenes together.

What was the line Harris Dickinson didn’t want to say to Nicole Kidman in Babygirl?

Emily Dickinson expressed, “In the script, there’s a part where I say something like, ‘I’m in a car with her and I remark, “I’m not drawn to that, you appear maternal.” I told Halina, our director, ‘I feel uncomfortable saying that.’ Isn’t it a bit impolite, don’t you think?

Babygirl also stars Sophie Wilde as Esme, Esther McGregor as Isabel, and Vaughan Reilly as Nora.

The tagline for the film is, “A successful business executive risks both her professional life and family ties as she embarks on a passionate relationship with a significantly younger colleague.

As a fan, I’d rephrase it like this: “It was tough for an intern to portray such a challenging role alongside the esteemed Nicole Kidman, much like I found myself grappling with the idea of delivering lines that seemed to question her character. The thought of it made me wonder, how on earth am I supposed to pull this off?

Babygirl is now playing in United States theaters.
