Starz presents “Spartacus: House of Ashur” as a captivating, sensual, exhilarating journey that continues the elements that made the initial series a monumental success. This series raises the intriguing question: what if Ashur, portrayed by beloved actor Nick Tarabay, didn’t perish on Mount Vesuvius at the end of “Spartacus: Vengeance”? Instead, imagine if he received the gladiator school that was once owned by Batiatus in exchange for helping the Romans eliminate Spartacus and bring an end to the slave uprising.
The initial installment of the series known as “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” debuted in January 2010. This was later preceded by a mini-series comprising six episodes titled “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.” Subsequently, two more seasons followed – “Spartacus: Vengeance” in 2012 and “Spartacus: War of the Damned” in 2013.
In the main show, Andy Whitfield played the lead character, but tragically, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma after the first season and passed away in 2011. After his demise, the series went on, with Liam McIntyre stepping into the shoes of Spartacus for its last two seasons, titled Spartacus: Vengeance and Spartacus: War of the Damned. A spin-off series, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, premiered in 2011 as well, focusing on the House of Batiatus before Spartacus’ arrival in Capua.
