New Avatar: Fire and Ash Art Released, James Cameron Teases Ash & Wind Tribes

New artwork for Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released.

20th Century Studios’ highly-anticipated movie, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” is set to hit U.S. theaters this December. This is the third chapter in the Avatar series, which will again be helmed by director James Cameron.

Empire Magazine has revealed some new artwork for Fire and Ash previewing Pandora’s Wind Traders.

Cameron described the Wind Traders as nomadic merchants, similar to the camel caravans of ancient spice routes, and added that they’re quite entertaining. Just like all Na’vi, they coexist harmoniously with their creatures…If you have a love for the sea in your heart, you’ll be eager to set sail on their vessel.

What else did James Cameron say about Avatar: Fire and Ash?

In addition, the upcoming film “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will present the ‘Ash Clan,’ a group governed by the character Varang, portrayed by Oona Chaplin.

In Cameron’s words, “Varang is the head of a group who have endured immense struggle. She’s been toughened by it.” He continued, “She’ll go to great lengths for them, including actions we might find questionable or evil.” The filmmakers aim to avoid straightforward morality in this production, moving past the ‘humans are universally wicked, Na’vi are inherently good’ perspective. They strive to progress beyond such stereotypes.

In addition to his comments, Cameron expressed that Chaplin’s portrayal in Fire and Ash was remarkably exceptional. He admitted that he didn’t fully grasp the brilliance of her acting until they received the Wētā animation. Despite playing an adversary, Chaplin managed to make the character feel strikingly real and vivid.

In U.S. cinemas on December 19, 2025, you’ll find “Avatar: Fire and Ash”. The fourth installment, “Avatar 4”, is scheduled for release on December 21, 2029, followed by the anticipated arrival of “Avatar 5” on December 19, 2031.
