In this week’s Netflix release of WWE RAW, we witnessed the highly-anticipated finals of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament between Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria. Originally, WWE had intended to hold the match during last week’s Netflix premiere of RAW.
Instead, the match between Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria, set to determine the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion, has been postponed by WWE. The decision was made to prevent other significant matches scheduled for the debut event from being overshadowed.
In the recent episode of WWE RAW, now streaming on Netflix, Lyra Valkyria triumphed over Dakota Kai to claim the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Title. This championship had been eagerly seeking recognition, and in this contest, it found its moment in the spotlight. Regrettably, despite her heroic efforts throughout the tournament, Kai suffered a crushing defeat.

After remaining silent, she expressed her feelings through X, saying, “Although it wasn’t my best night, my journey demonstrates this isn’t the end. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, I love you forever.” Yet, Kai didn’t stop at that point. She also extended a message to the newly titled Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled about the fresh chapter unfolding in the women’s division. The arrival of Women’s US and Intercontinental titles marks a significant shift. This move by WWE opens up new opportunities for female wrestlers who, until now, have sometimes found themselves lost amidst the bustling roster. It’s an exciting time to witness the growth and recognition of their talent!
As a dedicated gamer following WWE, I’m thrilled about the rise of powerhouses like Chelsea Green as the US Champion and Lyra Valkyria as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. This growth in female talent is not only exciting but could pave the way for a comeback of the Women’s Evolution Premium Live Event, a spectacle that showcased women’s matches exclusively back in 2018. Since then, we haven’t seen another all-women’s premium live event. Here’s hoping WWE brings it back soon!
