The eagerly awaited Rose Bowl performance by The Weeknd and the scheduled release of his new album have experienced an unforeseen twist. In a surprising move, the artist has canceled his Pasadena concert and delayed the album drop, causing fans to speculate about the reasons for these changes.
Here’s what we know so far about the cancellation, the album delay, and what fans can expect next.
The Weeknd postpones album and cancel Rose Bowl concert amid LA fire
As a gamer, I was all geared up for The Weeknd’s concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on January 25, 2025. But, unfortunately, it seems like those plans have gone up in smoke, just like the wildfires in LA that forced him to cancel the show and postpone the release of his new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The fires are causing quite a ruckus out here, and I can only hope for everyone’s safety and that we can all groove together soon.
The artist shared news on their social platforms about postponing events. “Out of consideration for the people in Los Angeles County, I’m cancelling the Rose Bowl performance… and moving the album launch to January 31st.” They expressed sympathy for those affected by the fires, stating, “This city has always been a deep inspiration to me, and my thoughts are with everyone going through this challenging period.
Refunds for the Rose Bowl concert ticket purchases from Ticketmaster will be handled in 14 to 21 business days, and they’ll be automatically returned to the initial payment source. If you acquired your tickets via third-party resellers, please reach out to them directly for any refund inquiries.
Officials have transformed the Rose Bowl Stadium into a command center to aid in fighting the Eaton Fire. This action bolsters ongoing attempts to contain the blaze, which has scorched more than 14,000 acres and is still only partially under control.
In Los Angeles County, the Eaton Fire and similar wildfires, such as the Palisades Fire, have wreaked havoc on numerous areas since late. The lack of rainfall, strong gusts, and dry plant life have exacerbated the situation, allowing the fires to spread quickly. As of January 13, 2025, the L.A. County Medical Examiner has reported 24 deaths and 16 missing individuals.
Officials emphasized that it’s crucial to prioritize emergency response actions at the Rose Bowl, given that aid is coming from various states to safeguard lives and properties. Lisa Derderian, Pasadena’s public information officer, put it this way: “The Rose Bowl should be a top concern for incoming emergency vehicles, as they work to secure both lives and properties.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “Over 23,000 acres have gone up in smoke due to the Pacific Palisades Fire. It’s been relentlessly encroaching on parts of the San Fernando Valley, and sadly, it’s forced some of us to flee our homes. The authorities are working tirelessly to figure out what sparked this inferno, but one thing’s for sure – the harsh weather conditions have only made things worse.
