It appears that accusations of sexual assault against British author Neil Gaiman are growing, as more individuals have come forward to share their experiences in recent times. This issue initially gained attention in July 2024 when Tortoise Media’s Master podcast controversially discussed a report featuring allegations made by several women against the writer. However, this matter has since expanded into a broader scale, placing Gaiman in a challenging legal predicament.
Here’s everything you need to know regarding the latest allegations made against Neil Gaiman.
Neil Gaiman accused of new sexual assault allegations
In an extensive report named “There Is No Safe Word,” published by New York Magazine, Lila Shapiro, one of the magazine’s feature writers, provided a comprehensive narrative about the accusations made against Neil Gaiman, supported by interviews with eight individuals who have expressed concerns. It is worth mentioning that four of these accusers had previously spoken out about inappropriate behavior allegedly committed by the author of The Sandman in the Master podcast.
As a gamer, I’m sharing my story – one that I never thought I’d have to. You see, I was once a babysitter for Neil Gaiman and his ex-wife Amanda Palmer. Recently, I joined seven other women who bravely shared their harrowing experiences with the author.
In February 2022, in a backyard bathtub in New Zealand, I unfortunately found myself in an uncomfortable situation with Neil. Another incident occurred in a hotel room, where his son was present, and once again, it wasn’t the peaceful interaction you’d expect between a babysitter and their charge. These are the allegations I’ve made against him.
A yet-unknown individual using the name ‘Brenda’ made an accusation against Neil Gaiman, which allegedly happened at a horror convention. She first encountered the 64-year-old author in the 1990s during a book signing event. Brenda claimed that he seemed to follow a predetermined script and insisted she call him ‘master’ right away. She felt it was as if he had initiated a ritual unrelated to her.
The dispute has significantly impacted Neil Gaiman’s professional life within the entertainment sector, leading to his dismissal as executive producer for Good Omens Season 3. However, Neil Gaiman’s team has firmly disputed all the charges mentioned in Shapiro’s report, calling them both untrue and reprehensible.
