The release date for a new version of Clive Barker’s “Hellraiser” has been set. This updated edition has been enhanced in 4K quality, and it was Barker’s first directorial effort in the supernatural horror genre, released back in 1987.
The iconic horror movie quickly cemented Barker’s status as a horror cinema legend. This film led to ten subsequent sequels directed by various filmmakers, such as “Hellbound” (1988), “Hell on Earth” (1992), “Bloodline” (1996), “Inferno” (2000), “Hellseeker” (2002), “Deader” and “Hellword” (both in 2005), “Revelations” (2005), and “Judgement” (2018).

When is the Hellraiser 4K theatrical rerelease date?
37 years after its initial release, Fathom Entertainment is set to reintroduce a revamped version of the 1987 movie Hellraiser to US cinemas on February 5 and 6, 2025. This film is an adaptation of Clive Barker’s 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, focusing on a mysterious puzzle box that unleashes terrifying and grotesque entities known as the Cenobites.
1987’s movie centers around the character of Frank, a man with a hedonistic lifestyle who seeks an unparalleled sexual pleasure by opening a strange gateway to hell. However, this act causes his entire body to disintegrate. When Frank’s brother and his wife move into his former residence, the wife – still harboring feelings for Frank – consents to attract men as part of a ritual using their blood in an attempt to restore Frank’s physical form.
In the movie, Doug Bradley played the head of the Cenobites. Known as Pinhead, he continued to portray this character in seven subsequent films before handing over the role to Stephan Smith Collins, Paul T. Taylor, and Jamie Clayton.
1987’s Hellraiser featured Sean Chapman playing the role of Frank, Andrew Robinson as Larry, Clare Higgins as Julia, Ashley Laurence as Kirsty, and Oliver Smith as the Skinless Frank. The characters of the other Cenobites were brought to life by Nicholas Vince, Simon Bamford, and Grace Kirby.
Hellraiser returns to theaters (in 4K, no less) on February 5 and 6.
