Adam Scott, renowned for his roles in various hit films and television series, includes the NBC mockumentary sitcom Parks and Recreation and the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Severance. More recently, he appeared as Ben Parker, aka Uncle Ben to Spider-Man enthusiasts, in the superhero film Madame Web, which premiered in 2024 but unfortunately fell short both critically and commercially. In a recent chat, Scott pondered about reprising a comic book character.
Severance’s Adam Scott says ‘never say never’ on playing another comic book role
In the storyline of Madame Web, Adam Scott’s character, Ben Parker, plays a significant role. He is depicted as a paramedic and a close friend and partner to Dakota Johnson’s central character, Cassandra Webb. Additionally, he is the brother-in-law of Emma Roberts’ Mary Parker, who is pregnant throughout most of the film and eventually gives birth to Peter Parker near the end. Given the significance of Uncle Ben, there have been discussions about whether Scott might reprise his role in future projects. In an interview with ComicBook, Scott spoke about the possibility of working on another comic-book related project.
Scott replied, ‘I’m unsure, but I must admit, as a viewer, I do enjoy films from that particular genre. I always make time to watch them.’
Earlier, during an interview with Jess Cagle on Sirius XM, Scott shared that he was raised in Santa Cruz, California, and nurtured his passion for comics by reading them extensively, emphasizing his deep affection for this art form.
The movie titled “Madame Web” received poor ratings of just 11% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes based on 266 reviews and turned out to be a flop at the box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that plans for creating a new franchise with “Madame Web” as its initial film have probably been abandoned following the movie’s poor performance.
In the upcoming second season of the critically-acclaimed streaming show “Severance,” set to debut on Apple TV+ this coming Friday, 17th January, Scott is scheduled to make his appearance.
