On Joe Rogan’s podcast, Gibson revealed that they aim to begin filming The Passion of the Christ sequel, named Resurrection of the Christ, as early as 2026. This project has been in development since 2016.
He expressed his expectation for some point next year, as there’s a significant amount of work involved since it’s like a trip on acid, he mentioned. Joining him were his brother, and another individual named Randall, who all shared similar thoughts about the matter. With collective intelligence at play, they’ve gathered to tackle this complex issue. However, he warned that the journey might be challenging, even bizarre. He believes that to tell this story accurately, one must first delve into the fall of angels, a realm far removed from our own, and even venture into hell.
In the upcoming sequel, Gibson will return as director, with Jim Caviezel set to portray Jesus once more. The focus of this new installment is expected to be on Jesus’ miraculous resurrection. Previously, Gibson hinted that there are two screenplays for this project, one of which he described as a mind-bending journey, transporting viewers to uncharted territories, though at present, it lacks an official release date or distribution platform.
The movie titled “The Passion of the Christ” portrayed the last days of Jesus Christ’s life, culminating in his crucifixion.
