CS2: BIG Clan set to unveil hyped and kyuubii

Right after the Shanghai Major wrapped up, where BIG reached a mixed achievement, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of both joy and sorrow. They managed to make it to the top 16 for the first time in more than two years, but sadly, they failed to secure a single victory in a series of tough matches, ending their run with a disappointing 0-3 record. Not long after, it was officially announced that Rigon “rigoN” Gashi, who joined us just last July as a replacement for David “prosus” Hesse, would be taking a break from the team.

Just last week, it was disclosed that Florian “syrsoN” Rische would once more depart from BIG, as there are no plans to renew his contract.

BIG stay German-speaking with kyuubii and hyped!

The Swiss rifleman rigoN will be replaced by “kyuubii” Ali, a promising young German player who has been part of Sangal and fnatic teams. Known for his aggressive entry-fragging approach, kyuubii’s role is to bolster the rifling unit that BIG aims to strengthen. His arrival is anticipated to enhance the synergy between Karim “Krimbo” Moussa, captain Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, and Jon “JDC” de Castro in the team.

Among the small number of young German athletes yet to wear BIG’s team uniform, kyuubii’s addition serves not just to strengthen their national representation but also fits their strategy of bringing together an elite group of German players.

Team News: sonY has been benched.

Appreciation Note: Your dedication and tireless efforts during the past few months in Shanghai have not gone unnoticed.

Current Status: He’s now open to new opportunities.

The decision to bench Florian “syrsoN” Rische was more surprising than anticipated, as initially, BIG had cited the expiration of his contract as a reason for exploring new opportunities. Last week, they officially ended syrsoN’s active tenure with the team. In his place, Marcel “hyped” Köhn will step in, a player who is well-known within BIG’s organization. Hyped has been part of BIG’s academy, although he spent the previous year on loan at Alternate AttaX.

Previously, Hyped wasn’t a newcomer to the main roster either; he had already taken over from SyrsoN in February to June 2023 after the latter left, but was subsequently demoted when the team failed to make it to the Paris Major. During his temporary assignment with AttaX, Hyped demonstrated promising growth, and BIG seems optimistic that he has evolved into the AWPer they require. However, the 21-year-old will have to live up to significant expectations as he regains his position.

One significant feature of these transformations is that BIG has chosen to maintain a roster consisting entirely of German-speaking players. This newfound uniformity continues after various trials with English communication, notably during Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski’s term which concluded earlier in 2024 upon syrsoN’s return. In strengthening their national identity, BIG intends to restore unity and improve performance, leveraging a combination of experienced players like tabseN and emerging talents such as kyuubii and hyped. Both have already been integrated into BIG’s practice group, so official announcements about their inclusion are expected soon.

With these changes, BIG’s roster now looks as follows:

  • Karim “Krimbo” Moussa
  • Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz (IGL)
  • Marcel “hyped” Köhn
  • Jon “JDC” de Castro
  • Can “kyuubii” Ali
  • Alexander “kakafu” Szymanczyk (Coach)
  • Florian “syrsoN” Rische (Benched)
  • David “prosus” Hesse (Benched)

The updated roster showcases a blend of seasoned guidance and energetic determination, with tabseN and kakafu leading the charge. There’s uncertainty about whether hyped will prove his potential and how kyuubii will handle the high-tier platform, but BIG’s move to back German talent demonstrates their dedication to the esports community.

As the CS2 scene in 2025 continues to develop, BIG’s roster shifts demonstrate their determination to stay relevant and competitive. Both the organization and their fans eagerly anticipate whether these changes can help them regain their position among the top-tier international Counter-Strike teams. They will first appear at the BLAST Bounty event, which is coming up next week.
