As I sit here, fingers poised over my gaming keyboard, the adrenaline rushing through me is not from a high-score chase but the thrill of being part of something extraordinary. Today, the cameras rolled for Scream 7, and I, humbly, got a glimpse behind the scenes.
Kevin Williamson, our master director, shared a sneak peek on Instagram – a clapperboard bearing the ominous logo of the movie we’ve all been waiting for. Despite being told to keep hush about it, the excitement was just too much. He hopes, with bated breath, that the folks at Paramount and Spyglass will understand and forgive his indiscretion after having one of the best days of his life.
I can’t wait to see what chilling scenes unfold on this journey!
Williamson expressed that he had a truly exceptional day, working alongside an incredible team of gifted actors and technicians. They each delivered their best work, standing by him throughout the process. He is deeply thankful for this chance and held Wes Craven in his thoughts during the project.

Who is involved in Scream 7?
Following a disagreement over contracts, Neve Campbell leads Scream 7 as Sidney Prescott. Likewise, Campbell isn’t the only actor reprising a role from earlier Scream installments; Courteney Cox is back portraying Gale Weathers, while Mason Gooding resumes his character, Chad Meeks-Martin.
Isabel May is now part of the cast, taking on the role of Sidney’s daughter. Additionally, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp have also joined the cast.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice the absence of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega in the cast for Scream 5 and Scream VI. They played the roles of sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, respectively. Unfortunately, Melissa Barrera was let go from Scream 7 following her remarks about the Israel-Hamas conflict in November 2023. On the other hand, Jenna Ortega had to step down due to scheduling conflicts with the second season of Wednesday. However, rumors later emerged suggesting that Ortega’s departure was not solely due to scheduling issues but also a disagreement over contract terms.
In the new Scream film, titled Scream VI, Guy Busick serves as the screenwriter, while Williamson takes on the role of director. Williamson is well-known for being the original creator of the Scream franchise, having penned Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4. Alongside Busick, James Vanderbilt contributes to the storyline, with production duties shared by Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and Vanderbilt.
Scream 7 opens in theaters on February 27, 2026.
