On Tuesday, Gunnar Optiks unveiled their planned product lineup for the year 2025. Apart from fresh partnerships and styles, the team at Gunnar demonstrated innovative materials for their eyewear, which are designed to mitigate some of the adverse effects associated with extended use of digital devices. Additionally, they are developing a new collection specifically catered towards women.
For a number of years now, Gunnar has been striving to provide adaptable lens choices across their diverse range of frames, catering to various requirements. For instance, the Clear lenses offer subtle protection, whereas the Amber Max lenses are ideal for nighttime wear and aid in better sleep promotion. The Clear Pro lens tint is specifically designed for artists specializing in graphic design or video editing, as it filters out 20% of blue light at 450nm while maintaining richer color representation.
As a dedicated fan, I must say that what truly blew me away in Gunnar’s CES lineup was the Venture glasses. These innovative frames harness electrochromatic lens technology, enabling users like me to effortlessly shift the tint of the lenses using a sliding mechanism on the side. This feature is a game-changer when it comes to preventing digital eye strain, as it automatically adjusts the lens tint to suit various environments.
In the newer models, such as Viscer (resembling a visor), consider these alternatives. The Viscer caters to sportier users with its single toric lens and is slated for release in March. If you’re not keen on the visor design but prefer something distinct from typical Gunnar glasses, opt for the new Loop model, featuring more rounded frames. The Loop will be accessible in January.
Gunnar has recognized an increase in female users, prompting the introduction of a new feminine-oriented collection by 2025. The Kista Collection, with its delicate design and use of patented Gunnar lenses, is set to launch first with the Erika line arriving in February, followed by Elin, Ingrid, and Sofia throughout the year. This development will broaden the existing selection of women-centric frames that already features the Lahti and Anna models.
2025 partnerships involve new designs from Gunnar’s collaborators at Activision Blizzard and Tokidoki. Highlights include eyewear inspired by Overwatch’s Reaper and World of Warcraft’s Sylvanas Windrunner, as well as designs for Tokidoki’s Mozzarella, Digital Princess, and Crystal Kingdom. Further 2025 collaborations will feature eyewear based on Call of Duty, Diablo 4, and the critically-acclaimed Fallout television series from Amazon Studios.
