Actor Ram Charan is eagerly awaiting the premiere of his upcoming film, Game Changer, scheduled for January 10, 2025. Before the movie’s debut, Ram Charan recently appeared on Nandamuri Balakrishna’s talk show Unstoppable with NBK. During the interview, he admitted to feelings of regret about taking on the lead role in Zanjeer.
In his chat with the esteemed Telugu actor, Ram Charan was queried about any movie he felt remorseful for making during his career. Without hesitation, he confessed that he regretted taking on the part in the Hindi reprise of Zanjeer, a character once played by Amitabh Bachchan years ago.
In case you didn’t know, Ram Charan stepped into Bollywood for the first time in 2013 with the action crime film “Zanjeer,” directed by Apoorva Lakhia. This movie starred Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the main characters. Interestingly, it was filmed and released in both Hindi (under the name “Zanjeer”) and Telugu (as “Thoofan”). The former marked Ram Charan’s entry into Bollywood, while the latter marked Priyanka’s debut in Telugu cinema.
Apart from the main duo, the movie boasted an impressive ensemble of actors like Sanjay Dutt, Srihari, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and more in significant roles. Unfortunately, this film was one of the most criticized movies in Charan’s cinematic career.
The newly released film is actually a modern adaptation of the 1973 movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, sharing the same title. This classic film was written by Salim-Javed and directed by Prakash Mehra. In this original production, Amitabh Bachchan portrayed an unyielding police officer, a role that has become synonymous with Indian cinema’s most memorable performances.
Moving forward, Ram Charan is poised to take on the role of a dedicated IAS officer in his forthcoming film titled Game Changer. This highly anticipated production, helmed by director Shankar, showcases Charan as an upright official determined to battle corruption within the political sphere. Intriguingly, Charan essays two distinct characters – that of a father and son – while Kiara Advani steps into the role of the female lead.
