Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is getting an anime series on Crunchyroll

Fans of anime and Ghost of Tsushima, the samurai game produced by Sucker Punch Productions, have something exciting to look forward to: an anime adaptation! This project will be helmed by director Takanobu Mizuno and is scheduled for release on Crunchyroll in two years.

On January 6, 2025, it was announced that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be turned into an anime series on the Crunchyroll platform. This collaboration is made possible by Aniplex, Sony Music, PlayStation Productions, and the game’s developer, Sucker Punch Productions.

At CES 2025, it was announced that the project would be overseen by director Takanobu Mizuno, with Gen Urobuchi responsible for the storyline, and animation duties entrusted to Kamikaze Douga.

In a statement for the press, Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, emphasized that this project showcases the collaborative brilliance within Sony’s family. It brings together the talent from PlayStation Studios and PlayStation Productions, Sucker Punch Productions and Aniplex, Sony Music’s renowned artists, and Crunchyroll’s extensive global marketing and distribution network. The Ghost of Tsushima anime will provide fans with a thrilling, fresh perspective on the game, offering an anime-style experience that is both daring and innovative.

Since its launch in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima has gained significant popularity. It’s since been made available on PC, received an update as Director’s Cut, and even launched a major expansion. Now, fans are excitedly counting down to the release of Ghost of Yotei, expected this year.
