Shacknews Best Hardware of 2024 – Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo

As someone who’s been through countless sleepless nights due to myriad electronic gadgets blaring at ungodly hours, I must say that Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo has been a breath of fresh air this year. This oddball piece of hardware is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered – a digital clock with an interactive twist that even manages to incorporate my favorite video game characters!

2024 was an unusual year for gaming hardware, lacking the release of groundbreaking products in both PC and console markets. After a lively discussion among the Shacknews team, we found ourselves reaching an unexpected consensus – a first for us! So, we decided to award the title of Best Hardware of 2024 to a clock: Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.

Unconventional companies often shine brightest when they choose to be unique, and Nintendo undeniably fits this description. Alarmo is an example of such innovation – a product that, at first glance, might seem unnecessary, yet its creative integration of game worlds into a functional digital clock has been intriguing to observe. Its ability to monitor sleep patterns, detect movements, and ensure a gentle wake-up experience sets it apart from other novelty clocks. What’s more, we appreciate Nintendo’s commitment to regularly updating the device. The addition of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe theme is certain to make it a popular choice, without needing any puns to emphasize its appeal.

Alarmo isn’t flawless; pets typically dislike it. However, it works well for couples. For singles and younger children, it’s an excellent piece of technology. Ideal for waking up young kids or teenagers punctually to get them to school. It also serves as a good tool for single individuals to track their sleep patterns.

In recent times, Nintendo has come up with some distinctive concepts for their library, and Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo is no exception. Consequently, it has earned the title of Shacknews’ Best Hardware of 2024.
