As a long-time fan of Blake Lively and her captivating performances, I wholeheartedly support her bravery in standing up against alleged misconduct by Justin Baldoni. It takes immense courage to speak out against such behavior, especially when it involves powerful figures in the industry.
The union SAG-AFTRA, which stands for the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, has publicly expressed their backing towards Blake Lively after she lodged a grievance against director Justin Baldoni.
What did SAG-AFTRA say?
Speaking to THR, SAG-AFTRA acknowledged the surprising and concerning claims against Baldoni and affirmed Lively’s right to bring up any concerns she had while working. The union praised her actions, calling it a crucial move that contributes to ensuring a secure work environment for everyone on set.
“The claims made are shocking and distressing. It’s within the employees’ rights to voice their worries or submit complaints. It’s unlawful and immoral to retaliate against those who expose misconduct or inappropriate actions. We commend Blake Lively for her bravery in addressing issues of retaliation and harassment, and for advocating for an intimacy coordinator during scenes involving nudity or explicit content. This move is crucial as it contributes to a safer working environment.
As a gamer, I’m echoing the sentiments shared by fellow actors standing behind Lively after her recent complaint. We’ve got her back!
Over the last week, Lively has made accusations against Baldoni, claiming sexual harassment and an attempt to tarnish her image. According to Lively’s statements, the work environment during filming became so intolerable that a meeting was called in response to her complaints about hostility. In this meeting, Lively requested that Baldoni cease displaying explicit videos or images of women to her, stop discussing his pornography addiction, halt conversations about sexual experiences in her presence, and also desist from commenting on Lively’s weight.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share a perspective on a recent controversy. The complaint suggests that Wayfarer Studios made an agreement with Blake Lively’s character’s portrayal team, promising to emphasize her strength and resilience rather than framing the movie as a tale of domestic violence. However, according to Blake Lively herself, Jensen Averson (Baldoni) allegedly went back on this deal by discussing the film’s heavy themes in interviews instead.
According to Lively, Baldoni and his PR manager, Melissa Nathan, allegedly brainstormed strategies for a social media smear campaign intended to damage her reputation. The documents submitted by Lively contain approximately 22 pages of text exchanges between Baldoni’s publicist and Nathan, where they expressed a desire to “bury” Lively online.
