As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the behind-the-scenes tales of the film industry, I find it fascinating to delve into the stories of unfulfilled collaborations and eventual successes. The life journey of director S Shankar is a testament to this rollercoaster ride, filled with dreams deferred but ultimately realized in the form of Game Changer alongside Ram Charan.
At a pre-release function for Game Changer, held in Dallas and attended by Director S Shankar alongside Ram Charan, SJ Suryah, and others, Shankar shared some unrealized collaborations from his career. He spoke candidly about his aspirations to work with several notable actors, but unfortunately, these projects never came to fruition.
For over fifteen years, Shankar harbored a dream of creating a movie featuring the legendary actor, Chiranjeevi. Unfortunately, this plan never materialized. Later, he aspired to partner with Mahesh Babu in a project, but that too remained unrealized.
Amidst the pandemic chaos, I, an ardent fan, had the privilege of eavesdropping on Shankar’s heart-to-hearts with Prabhas about a potential film collaboration. Alas, that dream project never materialized. However, Shankar’s fortunes took a turn for the better, and he found himself working alongside Ram Charan – a dream I share deeply as a fan. This union brought forth “Game Changer,” a masterpiece that allowed me, along with the Telugu audience, to indulge in Shankar’s boundless creativity.
For the past 15 years, I’ve dreamed about creating a movie starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, but that didn’t turn into reality. Similarly, plans for a film with Mahesh Babu fell through as well. Amidst the pandemic, I had conversations with Prabhas regarding a potential project, but it didn’t materialize. However, everything finally aligned to work on a movie with Ram Charan garu. I was fortunate enough to express my affection for Telugu cinema through him in Game Changer. (This version aims to maintain the original meaning while simplifying the structure and using more conversational language.)
Alternatively, Ram Charan disclosed that he was present for Shankar sir’s movie, Snehitudu, and admitted to being so anxious during the event that he couldn’t speak to him. In hindsight, he had contemplated asking the director to create a Telugu film featuring either himself or another actor, but found it difficult to express this thought.
Ram Charan went on to extol Shankar, referring to him as the Sovereign of the Indian Film Industry. He drew an analogy between Shankar and the cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, suggesting that just as Tendulkar is considered a master in cricket, so too does Shankar hold a similar status among film directors.
Ram Charan mentioned that it’s been about five years since he last starred in a standalone film. He expressed that this particular project holds great significance for him, and he guarantees that viewers will find it satisfying.
