The Mummy Movie Announced by Blumhouse With Evil Dead Rise Director

As a long-time fan of horror movies and a connoisseur of directorial brilliance, I am absolutely thrilled about Lee Cronin’s upcoming film, The Mummy. With his unique storytelling prowess, demonstrated through films like The Hole in the Ground and Evil Dead Rise, he has proven his ability to deliver chilling narratives that keep us on the edge of our seats.

The upcoming enigmatic film by director Lee Cronin is now unveiled, and it goes by the title of “The Mummy,” produced by New Line Cinema with Blumhouse as a collaborating producer on this chilling horror project.

What do we know about The Mummy?

The upcoming film titled “The Mummy” is scheduled for release on April 27, 2026, but specific plot details are yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, director Cronin hinted that this movie will offer an entirely unique take on the Mummy, promising an exploration of something both extremely old and incredibly terrifying.

Cronin stated, ‘This won’t resemble any Mummy film you’ve seen previously. I’m delving deeply into the past to awaken something extremely old and incredibly terrifying.’

It’s important to note that this movie is not a remake or reboot of The Mummy franchise, which is owned by Universal. Nor will it have anything to do with Universal’s horror franchise. Instead, this sounds like a completely original and unique story featuring a mummy.

As a die-hard fan, I was thrilled when Blumhouse and Cronin unveiled on Instagram the cover page of the movie’s script. The title initially appeared as scratch marks, but then magically transformed, revealing the movie’s exciting title!

In 2019, Cronin made his directorial debut with the supernatural horror movie “The Hole in the Ground.” After that, this Irish filmmaker went on to direct the highly acclaimed and financially successful “Evil Dead Rise,” which was released in 2023 and earned more than $147 million at the box office.
