Jack Doherty vs. FaZe Banks: The beef continues on X

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but shake my head at the antics of these young ‘uns today. Jack Doherty, a name that rings bells of controversy and questionable decisions, has once again found himself in the limelight, not for his pranks or stunts, but for his feud with FaZe Banks.

At just 21 years old, Jack Doherty has already gained notoriety through various controversial moves.

In 2016, the trickster kicked off his journey on YouTube by sharing videos of trampoline stunts. Over time, he shifted focus and started producing content centered around practical jokes in public places and taking on daring challenges instead.

In an engaging podcast episode titled GOAT Talk, hosted by Ricky Banks, the co-founder and CEO of FaZe Media, along with former member Plaqueboymax, Doherty was derisively referred to as having the “most dismal streamer performance” by the hosts. This assessment did not sit well with Doherty.

Both Doherty and Banks have encountered substantial backlash online. Doherty is frequently suspected of orchestrating practical jokes, whereas Banks is notorious for engaging in public disputes, as a user on platform X phrased it.

two of the most unlikeable human beings arguing with each other. what a time.

GOAT Talk: “Jack’s a Piece of S***”

In this engaging podcast collection, titled “GOAT Talk“, the hosts delve into debates about who’s the “Best of the Best” and conversely, who’s the “Least Successful”, across diverse realms such as sports, music, and entertainment.

In the inaugural live stream, I, as an avid fan, got to witness FaZe Banks and Plaqueboymax engaging in a lively conversation about notable figures within communities such as SoundCloud artists and members of the FaZe Clan.

The final question posed was: “Who is the worst streamer?”

“It’s easily Jack Doherty,” Banks said. “Jack’s a piece of s***. Everybody knows it, obviously.”

“I’ll probably go Jack Doherty, too,” Plaque agreed. “But at the end of the day though, the pics he took after the crash were fire, to be honest.”

The crash referred to one of Doherty’s most infamous stunts, where he crashed a $200K McLaren into a guardrail.

The occurrence not only resulted in him being barred from streaming service Kick, but it also gained widespread popularity, spawning numerous parodies.

Jack Doherty responds: “I know bro makes NO money these days”

It didn’t take long for Jack Doherty to catch wind of the podcast and respond on X:

I’m curious about the amount of taxes @Banks may have paid last year. It seems strange that he mentions my name when he doesn’t appear to be making any money these days.

Banks refused to back down, posting again to accuse Doherty of using viewbots and allegedly masterminding a ‘rug pull’ incident involving a meme-based cryptocurrency.

This year has been quite a contrast:

The back-and-forth continued, with Doherty claiming he has “more in real estate” than Banks and predicting that by the time he’s Banks’ age, he’ll have “10x more.”

Banks’ statement draws criticism

The situation took a turn for the worse as Bank’s controversial remark in a since-removed tweet ignited a broad wave of criticism.

Although Doherty’s behavior has faced much criticism, many perceived Bank’s reaction as being inappropriate or unbecoming, given his maturity level.

Irrespective of whether Doherty truly deserved the title “WOAT Streamer,” many people believed that Banks’ remarks went too far.

Despite the tweet appearing to be a deliberate attempt at provocation, it ultimately failed, with the majority of responses criticizing Banks for his tactic instead.

As a gamer, I didn’t give much weight to his statement, and in what appeared to be my last say on the topic, here’s how I responded:

Bro casually saying he wanna kid nap and murder a 12 year old lmao

It remains to be seen whether the feud will continue to escalate.

Previously, influencer boxing bouts have frequently served as a means to resolve disagreements. Might it be their next move, for Banks and Doherty?
