As a cinephile who’s been around the block more times than I care to remember, I can’t help but feel a tinge of excitement at the prospect of Marty Supreme gracing our screens on December 25, 2025. With Timothée Chalamet in the lead and Josh Safdie at the helm, this ping-pong movie is shaping up to be quite the spectacle.
A24 has announced a release date for Marty Supreme.
The upcoming film “Marty Supreme” will feature Timothée Chalamet as its ping-pong star. This movie is helmed by director Josh Safdie, and alongside Chalamet, it boasts an impressive cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Fran Drescher, and others.
When is the release date for Marty Supreme?
Per Deadline, Marty Supreme will be released in United States theaters on December 25, 2025.
The news arrives not long after the announcement that Paul Feig’s film The Housemaid, featuring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, will premiere on Christmas 2025. Additionally, an Amazon MGM Studios movie titled Sarah’s Oil is set to debut on the same day, along with unnamed films from Universal and Angel Studios.
A week ago, it was announced that James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, as well as a new SpongeBob movie and a Warner Bros. special film, would be hitting US theaters.
Marty Supreme is a joint creation by directors Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. The star-studded cast includes Ellen Page, Odessa Young, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Sandra Bernard. Alongside the trio of Safdie, Bronstein, and Chalamet, Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and A24 are also serving as producers for this project.
According to an article on Deadline, the movie was initially said to be a biography about the unconventional ping-pong player Marty Reisman. However, recent information suggests that it’s not a straight biopic but rather loosely based on his life. The film is being marketed as a blend between “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Catch Me If You Can.
On December 25, 2024, Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming film titled “A Complete Unknown” will hit theaters. In this biographical drama, he portrays legendary musician Bob Dylan, under the direction of James Mangold.
Back in 2008, I, Josh Safdie, stepped into the director’s chair for the first time with The Pleasure of Being Robbed. Since then, alongside my brother Benny, we’ve helmed a few flicks like Good Time from 2017 and Uncut Gems in 2019. Now, Benny’s branching out, taking on The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson, while I continue on my own creative journey.
