Dead by Daylight Mobile Will Shut Down in March 2025

As a long-time fan of Dead by Daylight Mobile, this news leaves me feeling like a survivor who has just been caught off guard by The Trapper in the heart of The Fog. It seems that the game’s lifespan was cut short by an unseen hook-wielding killer known as “NetEase Games’ development and operational strategies.

In simple terms, the popular game “Dead by Daylight Mobile” developed by NetEase Games will be shut down in the upcoming months due to changes in their development and operational strategies. This means that the game itself is about to lose its existence, taking another ‘victim’ with it, so to speak.

The game is set to depart from app store shelves on January 16, 2025, with a complete shutdown following on March 20. Players who have the app installed on their device can continue playing and using their in-game currency and items until the servers are officially closed in March. However, any in-app purchases have been halted since the announcement made on December 18.

Dear People of The Fog,

The team at NetEase Games is deeply saddened to announce that Dead by Daylight Mobile will officially be leaving app stores on January 16th, 2025, and ceasing operations entirely as of March 20th.

The journey for Dead by Daylight Mobile might be wrapping up, but players transitioning to the original Dead by Daylight on PC or console will receive a ‘Welcome Package’. This package is essentially a one-time bundle of rewards based on the amount spent and XP earned in Dead by Daylight Mobile. A detailed list of these rewards can be found in the developer’s closing statement.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that the recent news has left me in disbelief and a sense of uncertainty. This wasn’t an outcome anyone foresaw, especially not in the final months of this year. Rumors about the game’s closure started swirling around late October when we noticed the Content Creator program being shuttered and essential posts about the game’s future vanishing from the official website, like doors closing and messages being erased.

Prior to any speculations about uncertainty regarding its status, “Dead by Daylight Mobile” consistently adhered to its live-service approach, with frequent updates since its debut in 2020. These updates have brought about new killers, game modes, maps, and numerous other features to the game.

Although this title is simply a mobile version of the original multiplayer survival game, it has undeniably carved out a distinctive niche for itself on the smartphones of numerous gamers worldwide who either lack access to a PC or console, or cannot afford one.
