As a long-time WWE fan with decades of wrestling history under my belt, I can confidently say that WrestleMania 40 will go down as one of the greatest events in the annals of professional wrestling. The main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes was an absolute masterclass in storytelling and athleticism, and the surprise appearances by legends like The Rock, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and the legendary Undertaker added fuel to the fire.
At WWE WrestleMania 40, the legendary The Undertaker astounded spectators at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The headlining match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 is often hailed as one of the greatest main events ever to grace a WrestleMania event.
At the fight between Reigns and Rhodes, there was more than just an impressive clash. Fans were taken aback when The Rock, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and The Undertaker made their presence known. In the game’s dramatic finale, the WWE Hall of Famer came in to aid Cody Rhodes, enabling him to defeat Roman Reigns. As mayhem ensued during the match with The Usos, Solo Sikoa, The Rock, John Cena, and Seth Rollins all stepped in. At a pivotal moment, Rhodes received much-needed backup.
As a passionate fan, I found myself on the edge of my seat, bracing for The Rock’s imminent attack on Cody Rhodes with his belt. Just when the tension reached its peak, an iconic gong resonated through the stadium, igniting a massive response from the crowd. Out of nowhere, The Deadman emerged behind The Final Boss, delivering a powerful chokeslam that left me breathless!
In the build-up to the event, there were hints that John Cena might join the action. However, the most surprising return was The Undertaker’s, who last performed in 2020. It was announced recently by WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, that it was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who reached out to The Undertaker, urging him to make a shocking comeback for the show.
Triple H reveals The Rock called The Undertaker about WWE WrestleMania 40
During a chat on the Roommates Show, Triple H shared his preferred WrestleMania entry moments, highlighting WrestleMania 30, 31, and 33 as his favorites. He additionally commented on other wrestlers’ entries, specifically mentioning The Undertaker.
During the interview, when the topic of his unexpected participation at WrestleMania 40 was raised, Triple H explained how he managed to persuade The Undertaker to be part of it. He disclosed, “Initially, when I approached him about it, he seemed hesitant and said, ‘I’m not sure, I don’t think I want to do it.’ I replied, ‘Dude, there will be 80,000 people who are going to go wild with excitement!’ After some time, The Rock contacted him, and we all had to make efforts to convince him.
Initially, WWE had intended for Stone Cold Steve Austin to secretly join in The Undertaker’s role during WrestleMania 40. Unfortunately, this plan collapsed approximately a few weeks prior to the event.
