17th March, 1995 saw the birth of Shields in Flint, Michigan. Her boxing journey commenced under the tutelage of her coach Jason Crutchfield at Bersten Field House. She later emerged victorious at the Junior Olympic championships and went on to claim titles at the National Police Athletic League Championships, Women’s Elite Continental Championship, and the 2012 Olympics.

Claressa Shields was unstoppable as she enjoyed a glorious run in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she managed to reclaim her throne as the champion of the WBC and IBF female super middleweight. In the following year, she was declared the undisputed champion in women’s weight with consistent victories in WBC, WBA, WBO, and WBO. On July 27, 2024, the 29-year-old defeated Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse to win the WBC heavyweight championship.

Apart from excelling as a boxer, Shields has also made a name for herself in martial arts.
