As a seasoned Overwatch 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I must say that the December 16 update has left me a bit perplexed. The swift nerfing of Hazard and Sojourn, two characters I’ve grown quite fond of, feels like a cruel joke!
On December 16, not just some small alterations were introduced with the release of Overwatch 2, but also a reduction in Hazard’s strength.
Hazard and Sojourn getting nerfed
Right in the heat of my gaming session, a week after diving into Season 14 of Overwatch 2, I noticed an unexpected twist! The freshly minted Tank hero, Hazard, had its gameplay dynamics subtly tweaked, as hinted by the latest patch notes. Here’s a rundown of all the updates to this newcomer on the battlefield.
With the recent modifications to the Scottish Tank by Blizzard, it now takes players a bit longer to accumulate their Ultimate ability. Consequently, players won’t be able to unleash destruction at the same rapid pace as they were just a week ago.
Sojourn also suffered from the update reducing her potential on the map.
Hero Balance update
Here is everything that’s in the patch notes:
Hazard
- Downpour: Ultimate cost increased 13%
Sojourn
- Railgun: Primary fire shots-per-second reduced from 16 to 15.
- Disruptor Shot: No longer generates energy.
- Overclock: Energy charge rate reduced from 120 to 100 per second.
In Overwatch 2, this change is among the quickest adjustments made so far, and it could potentially make the usage of Hazard more equitable.
Have you already played Hazard or Sojourn? What do you think about them getting nerfed already?
