As someone who’s been a Destiny 2 enthusiast since its early days, I must say that 2025 looks like it’s shaping up to be an exhilarating year for us Guardians! Despite some of the challenges we faced this year, the promise of new content and updates has always had us eagerly awaiting each new dawn.
2024 has been a contentious year for the Destiny 2 community, with not everyone being completely satisfied with the game’s current state, and it seems that the end of the year is met with some challenges particularly during the Dawning event. However, regardless of individual feelings about how the year has progressed, it’s time to focus on what lies ahead. Although details are not yet fully confirmed, Bungie has shared a plan or schedule for Destiny 2 in 2025, covering the early months of the new year up until the start of Year 11.
Beyond just D2 in the coming year, there are other exciting prospects to look forward to. We’re all on edge about Destiny Rising, and it seems likely that its free-to-play spin-off might drop within the following 12 months. Apart from the Destiny franchise, Bungie is also developing Marathon. Although we don’t have an exact release date for Marathon yet, there will be playtests next year, giving fans a sneak peek and limited access to the game.
Not only do Rising and Marathon seem thrilling, but there’s also a lot to look forward to with Destiny 2, as suggested by its 2025 roadmap thus far.
Destiny 2 2025 roadmap
The Destiny 2 2025 roadmap so far is as follows:
- Revenant Act III release – January 7th
- Balance update – January 14th
- Iron Banner return – January 14th
- Adept Prophet: Trials of Osiris – January 31st
- New Dungeon – February 7th
The information presented in the recent “This Week in Destiny” blog post by Bungie covers updates for the early new year. Among these changes is a balance update set for January 14th, which will include significant boosts (buffs) and reductions (nerfs) to various aspects in the upcoming patch.
