As an ardent fan with years of admiration for Ilaiyaraaja’s enchanting symphonies, I am deeply moved by the recent incident at Srivilliputhur Andal Temple. It seems that our beloved maestro has once again become a victim of misinformation and rumors.
Notable composer Ilaiyaraaja found himself embroiled in disputes after allegations arose that he was asked to leave from the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple in Tamil Nadu. However, the artist himself has since dispelled these rumors.
On a recent post on what was once Twitter, Ilaiyaraaja expressed concern about false gossip circulating under his name. Although he didn’t provide specifics, the musician made clear that he will not tolerate such behavior. He stated, “Some individuals are spreading untrue rumors concerning me. I value my dignity above all and will never waver from it. They’re disseminating stories as if they were real when in fact they didn’t occur. Fans and the public should disregard these false rumors.

As per a PTI report, the musician visited the temple on December 15, 2024, for a performance. During his interaction with the temple’s spiritual leader, he stood at the entrance of the inner sanctuary of the temple.
Instead, Ilaiyaraaja wasn’t permitted to enter a specific area within the temple as it was reserved for priests alone. Consequently, he chose to offer his prayers from outside the sanctum itself and received respectful recognition at the temple.
As a devoted admirer, I myself paid a visit to the revered Srivilliputhur Andal Temple prior to unveiling my musical composition, Divya Pasuram. Accompanied by the esteemed Sadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar and Sadagopa Ramanuja Iyer from the Sri Andal Jeeyar Mutt in Srivilliputhur, I sought blessings for my work.
In the days ahead, the renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja is all set to make a comeback with his music, as the film Viduthalai Part 2 premieres on December 20, 2024. Just like the initial version, this maestro has skillfully composed the tracks and scores for the movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, under the direction of Vetrimaaran.
In 1987, the initial portion of the movie portrays the capture of a radical leader by the police, who was suspected of causing a train accident. As the investigation unfolds, a young police officer finds himself in a challenging position, grappling with his duty and personal ethics amidst a web of conflicting interests. The upcoming part will continue this suspenseful story, revealing the real perpetrators.
