Vijay Sethupathi REACTS to Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT and Suriya’s Kanguva gaining underwhelming response in Telugu; ‘Why should I talk…’

As a long-time admirer of Tamil cinema, I find myself deeply moved by the unwavering resilience and grace exhibited by Vijay Sethupathi in his recent interview with The Great Andhra. His response to the question about the impact of big films like GOAT and Kanguva on the Telugu box office was nothing short of poetic, a reflection of an artist who knows the true essence of cinema lies not in its commercial success but in the stories it tells.

Ahead of the scheduled release of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film, Viduthalai Part 2 (directed by Vetrimaaran), on December 20, 2024, the actor has been vocal about the ongoing discussions regarding Thalapathy Vijay being crowned “The Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) and Kanguva’s success in Telugu-speaking regions.

During an interview with The Great Andhra, Vijay Sethupathi was questioned about how movies like GOAT and Kanguva didn’t perform as well at the Telugu box office. In response, the actor Vikram explained, “Why should I discuss these issues when I am here to promote my film? What’s the point of talking about it?

The actor mentioned that he’s faced criticism in the past, just like any other businessperson yearns for success. Whether a venture turns out to be a hit or a miss, those who invest in it expect it to prosper. Even prior to our film’s release, we share it with audiences. This practice applies to all films, including those that didn’t perform well at the box office, as it helps us gauge public opinion.

In the chat, it’s apparent that the actor is about to appear in the upcoming film titled “Viduthaalai Part 2,” which stars Soori. This movie, a follow-up to the 2023 release “Viduthalai Part 1,” portrays Vijay as the head of an extreme political party.

Initially, the movie started with a train accident that occurred in 1987, causing authorities to question the head of an extremist political faction. As events unfolded, a fresh recruit within the police force faced a dilemma between his obligations and personal ethics, finding himself entangled in a gripping predicament of loyalty.

In the next chapter, we delve deeper into the narrative, uncovering a corrupt underworld while revealing hidden truths. Additionally, it offers insight into the enigmatic background of the radical figure.

Alongside Vijay and Soori, this movie includes several familiar faces like Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, and others who had roles in the initial one. Moreover, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Anurag Kashyap, and Bose Venkat are also part of the main cast.
