WATCH: Music legend Ilaiyaraaja escorted out of Srivilliputhur Andal Temple; find out why

As a fervent admirer of the musical maestro Ilaiyaraaja, I find myself both awestruck and saddened by the recent incident at the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple. The man who has graced our screens with his melodious symphonies for nearly five decades was asked to step out of a sacred chamber due to a technicality.

Notably, renowned musician Ilaiyaraaja stirred a commotion during his trip to the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple in Tamil Nadu. In this sanctified place, the composer went to pay respects through prayer, but the course of events took an unanticipated twist when the priests and devotees brought forth allegations of violations against him.

As per a News18 report, Ilaiyaraaja was asked to exit a private, off-limits room containing a deity in a temple. Temple officials explained that this area is not open to the public and kindly requested Ilaiyaraaja to vacate the sacred space. Upon learning about the matter, Ilaiyaraaja showed respect and obliged by stepping out of the room.

Although there was a small interruption, Ilaiyaraaja managed to catch a glimpse of the deity and conclude his temple visit. Yet, footage of him being ushered off the temple grounds has become popular on social media platforms.

It is said that Ilaiyaraaja paid a visit to the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple, hoping for blessings prior to the launch of his devotional piece, Divya Pasuram. He was joined by Sadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar and Sadagopa Ramanuja Iyer, who hail from the Sri Andal Jeeyar Mutt based in Srivilliputhur.
