As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for movies and a soft spot for comedies, I must admit that “Rolling Loud” has piqued my interest. The fact that it is inspired by a true story and features Owen Wilson, who I’ve always admired for his versatile acting skills, makes it even more intriguing.
In the forthcoming R-rated comedy flick titled “Rolling Loud“, Owen Wilson will share screen time with comedian Matt Rife. The movie is penned and helmed by director Jeremy Garelick, who previously worked on “Murder Mystery 2”.
The movie “Rolling Loud” will be filmed at the actual music festival with the same name. Filming begins this weekend at the festival, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in Miami. Garelick, the director, is leading production through his company, American High.
What is Rolling Loud about?
According to Deadline, it has been announced that Wilson will team up with the comedian at Rolling Loud. The upcoming movie is inspired by real events and tells the story of a protective father (portrayed by Wilson), who secretly takes his teenager to the renowned hip-hop festival.
The story of Rolling Loud revolves around a cautious father named Wilson, who takes the most questionable parenting action by secretly bringing his 13-year-old son to the world’s biggest hip-hop music festival. This impulsive decision triggers a tumultuous journey, involving his carefree colleague (Rife), an offbeat festival helper, as they maneuver through throngs of people, security checks, and complex family relationships amidst the chaos.
The film is produced by Live Nation Productions and American High, with Garelick joining the production team along with Will Phelps from American High, Stella Bulochnikov from Pat Solitano Productions, and Jolene.
Wilson is primarily recognized for his lead performances in movies such as Bottle Rocket, Meet the Parents, Shanghai Noon, The Royal Tenenbaums, Midnight in Paris, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wonder, and The French Dispatch, to name a few. More recently, he appeared in the Marvel series Loki under the character Mobius M. Mobius.
Matt Rife gained popularity as a comedian, accumulating several TV appearances such as MTV’s Wild ‘n Out, The Challenge: Stars vs. Champions, and episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Fresh Off the Boat. His stand-up specials include “Matt Rife: Only Fans”, “Matt Rife: Matthew Steven Rife”, and “Matt Rife: Natural Selection”.
No exact release date has been set yet for Rolling Loud, but it is slated for release in 2025.
