As someone who has been a die-hard Marvel fan since I was a kid, growing up with the Avengers comics and movies, I must say that 2024 has been a fantastic year for us fans! The release of Marvel Rivals has truly taken the gaming world by storm, combining the epic universe of Marvel with the exhilarating multiplayer gameplay of Overwatch.
The highly anticipated Marvel Rivals game is now live, captivating the gaming community with its exceptional blend of Earth’s most powerful superheroes and multiplayer, hero shooter mechanics similar to Overwatch. Future updates will introduce an array of exciting new characters and costumes. Excitingly, NetEase has revealed the release schedule for two breathtaking skins set to grace Marvel Rivals in the near future.
Currently, we’re in the pre-launch phase, according to the plan, Season 1 won’t commence until early January. Although the developers haven’t disclosed all the updates for the game, a leaker has hinted at an “iconic” supervillain joining the game earlier than many expect. Moreover, we had a chat with the game director who shared their insights on why and how Marvel Rivals might outshine Concord where it fell short.
The game was just recently launched, and it’s expected to shine in 2025 with the debut of Season 1. But even before the New Year arrives, NetEase has revealed the release dates for two fresh skins inspired by Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy, which fans should definitely consider adding to their collection if they’re enthusiasts of these characters.
Marvel Rivals release time for Thor and Star-Lord skins
Through the Marvel Rivals X official account, the developer has announced that new costumes for Thor and Star-Lord are upcoming. These outfits will be accessible starting December 12th at 11PM Pacific Time, or December 13th at 2AM Eastern Time/7AM Greenwich Mean Time.

As a devoted admirer, I’d say that the Thor costume I’m admiring here is inspired by the suit Chris Hemsworth wore in Taika Waititi’s Love and Thunder movie. On the other hand, Star-Lord’s fresh look, which I find quite captivating, is a nod to his Master of the Sun outfit, as seen in comic books, rather than the trilogy of Guardians of the Galaxy films directed by James Gunn.
The two ensembles are truly stunning! Regrettably, Love and Thunder didn’t hit the mark as a film, but the costume certainly enhances the selection of Marvel Cinematic Universe outfits that have been verified for the game.
