As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast who’s seen more films than I can count stars in the Milky Way, this news about Steven Soderbergh‘s latest project, The Christophers, has me buzzing like a pinball on overdrive!
The Christophers, a new dark comedy movie from Steven Soderbergh, has added three new cast members.
In the upcoming months, you’ll find two new films from director Soderbergh hitting the screens. First up, “Presence,” featuring Lucy Liu and Julia Fox in a gripping psychological thriller, will be released in U.S. cinemas on January 24, 2025. Not long after that, on March 14, 2025, catch “Black Bag” with Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender in the leading roles.
As I eagerly look ahead to the upcoming year, I’m thrilled to share that Steven Soderbergh is showing no signs of slowing down! He’s got a fresh project brewing – a captivating new dark comedy titled “The Christophers” – and guess where it’ll be filmed? You got it – London in February! Can’t wait to see the magic he’ll weave on those cobblestone streets.
Who has been cast in Steven Soderbergh’s The Christophers?
According to Deadline, it has been announced that Ian McKellen from “The Lord of the Rings,” James Corden from “Cats,” and Michaela Coel from “I May Destroy You” are set to portray roles in the upcoming production titled “The Christophers.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it this way: “In my world, ‘The Christophers’ is a tale of humor with a dark twist. It revolves around me and my estranged siblings, kids of a once-celebrated artist. In our quest to secure his legacy, we hire a crafty forger to finish his uncompleted works. Our plan? To reveal and sell these pieces posthumously.
Ed Solomon penned the script for the series known as The Christophers. In this project, Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca from Department M will take on the roles of executive producers.
Before creating Presence and Black Bag, my cinematic journey encompassed a diverse range of films such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Erin Brockovich (2000), Traffic (2000), Ocean’s Eleven (2001), the sequels Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen (2004 & 2007), Contagion (2011), Magic Mike (2012), Side Effects (2013), Logan Lucky (2017), Unsane (2018), High Flying Bird (2019), No Sudden Move (2021), Kimi (2022), and the upcoming Magic Mike’s Last Dance, among others.
Previously, Solomon has collaborated with Soderbergh. In fact, Solomon was the screenwriter for No Sudden Move and Bill & Ted Face the Music in 2020, which were produced by Soderbergh. Moreover, he penned scripts for HBO’s Mosaic and Max’s Full Circle, both of which Soderbergh was involved with as well.
A release date for The Christophers has not yet been announced.
