As a seasoned CS2 gamer, I’ve seen my fair share of ups and downs, victories and defeats. The Shanghai Major has been a rollercoaster ride this year, but NAVI’s elimination has left me scratching my head. Their performance was a mix of brilliance and bewilderment, much like the unpredictable dance between a w0nderful cat and a curious mouse.
An upset results in the early exit for the defending Major champions, whereas HEROIC moves forward with a strong surge of energy behind them.
NAVI is out of the Shanghai Major!
The start of the series was powerful for HEROIC, who convincingly won Maple (Mirage), scoring an impressive 13-3 win. NAVI had a tough time keeping up, often finding themselves outplayed by HEROIC’s strategic raids.

Yet, NAVI swiftly regrouped on Nuke, with Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov giving an outstanding performance. His exceptional play ignited NAVI to a powerful 13-5 win, equalizing the series and paving the way for a thrilling decider on Ancient.

In an ancient setting, the battlefield proved ideal for the two teams as they fought fiercely. The game was incredibly close, with both sides tied at 9-9 before HEROIC managed to secure four straight victories in a row, leading to a final score of 13-9 and ultimately determining the fate of the reigning champions.

For team NAVI, this recent tournament result is their second straight underperformance, following their last-place finish at the BLAST World Final. An initial anomaly, their struggles in Shanghai indicate deeper problems. The first day of competition set the stage for their campaign with a close 13-11 defeat against MIBR, and things only got worse as they suffered a harsh 13-2 loss to Spirit. The Copenhagen Major MVP, Justinas “jL”, had a difficult time throughout this event, ending with a 0.90 rating and facing concerns about his performance level.
Disappointing conclusion to the season; we somehow veered off course en route to the major and struggled to regain our footing.

Taking a moment of honest introspection, I, too, found myself sharing on my platform about my personal struggles with mental health. I confessed, “I’d often plunge into a deep, dark tunnel of self-doubt, questioning my abilities and losing faith in my potential. If unaddressed, there seems to be no room for success or thriving in a competitive atmosphere.
A hard-fought loss, but the sting has subsided now. For NAVI CS2, it was an exhilarating yet rollercoaster of a year, filled with victories and setbacks.
1 – PGL Major triumph, EWC, EPLS20, IEM Rio, 6 consecutive Grand Finals appearances. It was thrilling, tiring, and at times, heart-pounding, but we’re still standing…

Considering NAVI’s premature departure, there’s a lot of discussion going around about whether this could signal the twilight of an epoch or just a momentary setback for one of the most esteemed CS2 teams from the early days of its history.
Do you think NAVI can bounce back in 2025 or do they need to make roster changes?
