Metroidvania meets Zelda in this simplistic pixel game

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades under my belt, I must say that the announcement of “Oolo” by Riddle Master Productions has me utterly thrilled! The tantalizing blend of Metroid, Castlevania, and Zelda elements promises an exhilarating adventure that I simply can’t resist.

In simple terms, Riddle Master Productions has disclosed that they will be launching the game titled “Oolo” in the year 2025. You have an opportunity to preview it now by visiting their Steam page, where a complimentary demo is available for your perusal!

Metroid meets Castlevania meets Zelda

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “This game promises a fresh spin on old-school isometric adventure games, sporting a charmingly enchanting pixel art style that’s surprisingly straightforward. You control a diminutive, vibrant purple wizard on an adventure through pixelated landscapes of forests, caves, and dungeons – or perhaps we should say ‘obstacles’?

The game is structured so that fresh exploratory opportunities arise through the acquisition of novel items and tools. This could lead you to unexplored haunted catacombs or enchanted factories. Solving puzzles, locating keys, and uncovering enhancements will aid the purple magician in his journey, similar to popular metroidvania games but set within a landscape reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda.

As you journey along, you’ll encounter remnants of past explorers that you can assemble to uncover the enigmas hidden within the Isle of Souls, propelling you further in your mission to reignite the World Flame.

A non-violent game full of monsters

The game features over 400 interconnected locations such as ominous forests, underground lairs, and treacherous marshes. These areas conceal enigmatic and powerful relics that can aid your advancement in various parts of the adventure.

In this peaceful game, you maneuver blocks, navigate enemies, and leap (or occasionally drop) to discover entirely fresh locations. You must evade blue specters or dodge attacks from giant skull creatures firing green flames until you locate all six elemental keys to open the portal, guiding you towards the World Flame.

To date, Riddle Master Productions has yet to announce an official release date, but rest assured, it’s slated for sometime next year. In the meantime, feel free to test out the free demo!
