As a fan who has grown up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement upon hearing that Chris Evans is coming back! Remembering the first time I watched him as Captain America, it feels like a lifetime ago. Now, seeing him return alongside Robert Downey Jr., it’s as if we’re getting a reunion of the Avengers we’ve known and loved for years.
It’s been confirmed by TheWrap that Chris Evans, known for portraying Captain America for more than ten years, is set to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday.
Who will Chris Evans be in Avengers: Doomsday?
It’s uncertain if Chris Evans, who is rumored to rejoin Marvel, will resume his role as Captain America. According to TheWrap, details about the scope and specifics of Evans’ possible return are still undisclosed.
Notably, Evans parted ways with his role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame (released in 2019), where his character opted to remain in the past, aging alongside Peggy Carter. In the upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World, scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, 2025, Anthony Mackie – known for playing Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – is poised to assume the title of Captain America.
For some time, there have been whispers about Evans’ comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The actor himself has expressed his readiness to return under the right circumstances, and it appears that opportunity has finally come along. He is set to collaborate with previous MCU member Robert Downey Jr., who will be portraying Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in the upcoming film.
As an ardent fan, I can’t hide my excitement at the prospect of the Russo Brothers returning to the MCU helm for the upcoming ensemble movie, tentatively titled “Avengers: Doomsday.” Although there’s no official release date confirmed as of now, Marvel Studios has hinted that it will hit theaters in May 2026. Initially slated for a 2025 release on May 2nd, the film’s premiere was pushed back due to an extended list of Marvel delays. The delay came about as many movies underwent script revisions and were affected by industry-wide strikes that swept through Hollywood in 2023.
The movie that was originally titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has now been rechristened after the dismissal of Jonathan Majors last year. Although the specifics of the film’s narrative are still shrouded, it’s almost certain that the story will revolve entirely around Doom, a notorious and widely recognized villain from the comic book world.
