As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with a soft spot for the 28 Days Later franchise, I must say, the anticipation for the upcoming release of 28 Years Later is reaching an all-time high! The recent teaser has only fueled my excitement, leaving me on the edge of my seat.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has just unveiled a sneak peek, or “teaser,” for the upcoming movie titled “28 Years Later.” This teaser might offer clues about when we can expect the official trailer to be released.
28 Years Afterward serves as the third installment in a chilling zombie/horror movie trilogy that started with the 2002 release of 28 Days Later, followed by its successor, 28 Weeks Later in 2007. This upcoming film, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes, is set to hit theaters across the US on June 20, 2025.
The first 28 Years Later trailer may release on Tuesday
On December 7, 2024, the trailer for “28 Years Later” was unveiled on YouTube, sparking numerous fan theories. This brief 13-second teaser doesn’t reveal much but features quick glimpses of an island amidst flashes against a predominantly dark background. Additionally, it subtly shows images of red skulls and contamination symbols, along with fleeting appearances of enigmatic figures.
As a dedicated fan, I couldn’t help but notice an intriguing detail in the latest video – the use of Morse code! Fascinatingly, some eagle-eyed viewers have deciphered it as a clue about when we might get the official trailer. Based on the Morse message “Tuesday,” there’s widespread speculation that the full trailer will drop on a Tuesday, specifically December 10, 2024.
In the teaser, there was no explanation given by Sony Pictures Entertainment, instead, the video title just displayed an SOS emoji.
28 Years Later, penned by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, is a sequel to their earlier work, 28 Days Later from 2002. Notably, Cillian Murphy, who played the lead in Oppenheimer, reprises his role as Jim in this upcoming film. As per Deadline, the sequel, 28 Years Later, will be followed by 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple. Interestingly, both parts were filmed simultaneously. Prior to the release of the teaser for 28 Years Later, Sony revealed the movie’s official poster on X (formerly Twitter), featuring the tagline, “Time Didn’t Fix a Thing.
