What do we know about 28 Years Later?
28 Years Later features Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding as its stars. Cillian Murphy returns to his role as Jim from 28 Days Later in the movie, but the extent of his character’s involvement is yet to be determined.
During an interview with IndieWire in October 2024, Fiennes hinted at the film’s storyline: “The movie is set 28 years into a horrific epidemic that has turned humans into violent, rabid carriers. It revolves around a young boy on a quest to find a doctor to save his ailing mother. He guides his mother through breathtaking northern English landscapes. However, they must navigate this journey while avoiding the infected who lurk in forests, hills, and woods. Remarkably, he encounters a doctor who initially appears quirky but proves to be a benevolent figure.
28 Years Later, a movie jointly penned by Boyle and Alex Garland, marks the commencement of a fresh trilogy of sequels. Interestingly, it was filmed simultaneously with the second installment in this series, titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, helmed by Nia DaCosta.
28 Years Henceforth will premiere in U.S. theaters on June 20, 2025, courtesy of Sony Pictures Releasing. At present, you can’t stream 28 Days Later anywhere major, whereas 28 Weeks Later is accessible for viewing on Hulu.
