As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of Western dramas, I must say that the prospect of a Longmire Season 7 brings me great excitement! Having grown up with the original run on A&E, I was thrilled when Netflix picked it up for seasons 4-6. The gripping storylines, the rugged landscapes of Absaroka County, and the unforgettable portrayal of Sheriff Walt Longmire by Robert Taylor have left a lasting impression on me.
Seven years since it ended, Longmire is once again making headlines. The series centers around Sheriff Walt Longmire, a county lawman who navigates complex and risky crime cases. With a recent post on social media from writer Craig Johnson, speculation has risen about the possibility of a new season for this beloved show.
So, let’s find out the latest update on the acclaimed Western drama series.
Will Longmire Season 7 happen after leaving Netflix?
As of now, Longmire Season 7 has not been renewed after leaving Netflix.
It’s well-known that the series Longmire debuted on June 3, 2012, on the network A&E. The show garnered significant popularity amongst its audience and generally favorable feedback from critics. Most of the acclaim was focused on the acting and writing quality.
In August 2014, it was decided that Longmire would not be renewed for a fourth season by the network. This left the door open for other networks, and ultimately, Netflix acquired the rights to stream the series online.
Beginning on September 10, 2015, Longmire Season 4 started streaming on Netflix, delighting viewers and eventually getting renewed for Seasons 5 and 6. Two years later, the series concluded on November 17, 2017. Ever since then, fans have been anxiously anticipating a Season 7 to appear on the platform.
The series, which was previously available on Netflix, has been announced to depart as well. According to What’s On Netflix, all six seasons will be removed from Netflix on January 1, 2025. But, there’s a silver lining: the show had already transitioned to Paramount Plus prior to this change.
As fans eagerly anticipate Season 7, Craig Johnson, the author behind the series’ inspiration, shared an intriguing post on Instagram and Facebook. He hinted that the show might be moving to Paramount+ and pondered if Warner Brothers, now liberated from their deal with Netflix, would finally contemplate bringing it back to life… Exciting times ahead!
Although Johnson’s post seems promising, it’s essential to remain patient until there’s an official word on Longmire’s future.
