As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of all things entertainment, I must say that Variety’s Actors on Actors 2024 lineup has me absolutely thrilled! The pairings are intriguing, and I can’t wait to see the insights they share about their careers. The Paul Mescal and Ariana Grande duo is particularly interesting, given the Glicked phenomenon – it reminds me of the excitement surrounding Cillian Murphy and Margot Robbie last year.

Among all these intriguing duos, I find myself most captivated by Paul Mescal and Ariana Grande, as their pairing seems to echo the Glicked effect, much like Cillian Murphy and Margot Robbie did with Barbenheimer last year. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds is another intriguing one, particularly after their humorous smooch at the 2017 Golden Globes.
On social media, many people have expressed their surprise at Sebastian Stan’s absence from the upcoming Variety event, given his recent role in the Donald Trump biopic, “The Apprentice.” During a Q&A after the film’s screening, Stan mentioned that he was invited to participate in their 2024 Actors on Actors series. Unfortunately, he couldn’t accept due to his inability to find another actor willing to discuss the movie with him, as others were reportedly too hesitant to talk about it.
Ramin Setoodeh, one of Variety’s co-editors-in-chief, later confirmed Stan’s story to IndieWire. He mentioned that we extended an invitation to Stan for our most popular awards season series, ‘Actors on Actors,’ but other actors declined to be paired with him because they didn’t want to discuss Donald Trump.
