As a fan who has followed Justin Baldoni‘s career with great interest, I must say that his dedication and emotional investment in “It Ends With Us” is truly commendable. His portrayal of Ryle Kincaid seemed so raw and authentic that it was hard not to feel the character’s pain as if it were my own. It’s not every day you see an actor who pours his heart and soul into a role, and it seems Baldoni is one such artist.
Justin Baldoni not just took up the director’s role for “It Ends With Us”, but also acted in it, which was so demanding that he came close to collapsing during filming.
During an interview with How to Fail With Elizabeth Day, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Baldoni shared a challenging moment in one scene where his character, Ryle Kincaid, discovered Atlas’ phone number on Lily’s phone. According to Baldoni himself, this scene stirred strong emotions and he needed to leave and weep after filming it.
What did Justin Baldoni say about It Ends With Us?
Baldoni stated, ‘He’s intensely envious, distraught, and furious, but he doesn’t hurt her. Yet, his eyes exude a palpable danger.’ After witnessing that episode, I came close to a mental breakdown. I had to step away, weep, and tremble as the pain was overwhelming.
Baldoni mentioned that it required several months for the role of Ryle to fully depart from him, and he admitted that working as both director and actor on such a film could sometimes feel isolating.
Baldoni mentioned that it was quite challenging and it took several months,” he said. “For some time, I harbored his dreams within me, and now I believe he’s mostly gone from my being.
As a gamer, I can relate when they say that leading is a solitary journey. You’re the one at the helm, and everyone seems to expect answers from you. In those quiet moments, it feels like a never-ending torrent of questions, yet no one seems to want to intrude or bother you. There aren’t many people around to confide in, and even when you do have someone, it’s hard to reveal your worries or apprehensions because you’re also the one setting the pace. It’s a heavy mantle to bear, but it’s part of being the leader.
You can now stream “It Ends With Us” on numerous digital platforms, and starting December 9, 2024, it will be available for streaming on Netflix as well.
