As a long-time fan of Dead By Daylight, I must admit that this year has been nothing short of spectacular for the game. From Alan Wake to Lara Croft, each chapter has brought something new and exciting to the table. However, the recent release of Chapter 34, also known as The Houndmaster, has left a rather “ruff” taste in my mouth (pun intended).
2024 has been a strong year for Dead By Daylight overall, but its final chapter of the year hasn’t quite lived up to expectations among fans. The recently released Doomed Course has faced considerable criticism from players who are not satisfied with The Houndmaster killer. Luckily, Behaviour Interactive acknowledges the community’s concerns and has pledged to make improvements following the “overwhelmingly negative” response to Chapter 34.
During the last month of 2024, there’s plenty to savor in Dead By Daylight! Players stand a chance to earn up to 1,500,000 Bloodpoints throughout December, and the December roadmap unveils numerous forthcoming plans, including the eagerly anticipated Bone Chill event. Moving on to the new year, we’re officially teaming up with renowned artist Junji Ito, and rumors point towards the March chapter being inspired by Tokyo Ghoul, though this is yet to be verified.
In the spirit of the upcoming Christmas festivities, Behaviour Interactive has plenty of fresh skins and content in store, but what’s equally exciting is that the developers are diligently working on enhancements for Chapter 34 in Dead by Daylight as well.
Dead By Daylight developer promises “fixes” for Chapter 34
I was thrilled to dive into Dead by Daylight’s Chapter 34 a bit earlier than expected on November 28th! This chapter marks the grand finale for DBD in 2024. In this installment, we were introduced to Taurie Cain, a fresh survivor character, and The Houndmaster, a formidable new killer joining the fray.
2021 has been a remarkably eventful year for DBD, with standout moments including the captivating launch of Alan Wake at the beginning, followed by the introduction of two outstanding original characters, The Unknown and Sable Ward, into Dead By Daylight. The addition of Dungeons & Dragons, the globally cherished Lara Croft, and the exceptional CastleVania were all highlights as well.
Man, I’ve got to say, the release of Chapter 34 hasn’t exactly been met with enthusiasm. As I type this, Steam is showing it as “mostly negative,” and a quick scan of Reddit reveals an “overwhelmingly negative” response so far. Guess I’ll have to wait for the next update to see if things improve!
As a gamer, I’ve been grappling with quite a few issues while diving into Chapter 34. It seems there’s an overwhelming amount of bugs that keep cropping up, making the gameplay less enjoyable. Moreover, it appears the community isn’t exactly fond of The Houndmaster’s perks. In fact, I’ve come across several reviews describing her as a “buggy mess,” with her abilities being deemed “pretty mid” and her power as something that works “sometimes depending on how the dog feels.
In reference to X, a user expressed their affection for the game but criticized a newly released killer as barely functioning. In response, the official DeadByDaylight account at X acknowledged that Behaviour Interactive is currently addressing these issues by working on smaller updates post-release, which will address both bug fixes and power balances.
We truly value your input! Rest assured, we are actively addressing minor updates post-release. These tweaks encompass not only bug corrections but also fine-tuning of power settings for optimal performance.

On the Behavior Interactive forums, community manager Mandy clarified that there would be two updates before the upcoming holiday break. These updates will focus on modifications for the Houndmaster character and also address the Live Balance adjustments from the Public Test Build (PTB).
It’s promising to hear that improvements, including bug fixes and tweaks for The Houndmaster, are in development. However, while there have been concerns regarding Taurie Cain’s perks, Behaviour Interactive has not yet confirmed specific adjustments for this survivor.
