As a die-hard Bengals fan with years of heartbreak and triumph etched into my sports soul, I can’t help but feel a pang of concern as our beloved Evan McPherson finds himself sidelined due to injury. The guy’s leg is gold, and now he’s got a groin issue? It’s like a cosmic joke!
Although the Cincinnati Bengals began this NFL season on a promising track, they’ve since hit a slump, losing four out of their last five games. The team’s struggles were further compounded during their latest game against the Pittsburgh Steelers when star placekicker Evan McPherson sustained an injury. Consequently, McPherson has been moved to his team’s injured reserve list. However, the nature of Evan McPherson’s injury is yet to be disclosed publicly.
Here’s everything you need to know regarding McPherson’s latest ailment and his recovery status.
How did Evan McPherson get injured?
Evan McPherson sustained a right groin injury in the Bengals’ 44-38 loss vs the Steelers.
It’s still uncertain under what circumstances or at which point in the game the NFL star developed the problem. Remarkably, despite being injured, the 25-year-old kicker successfully converted all five of his extra point attempts.
Due to an injury suffered by Evan McPherson, the Cincinnati Bengals have added Cade York to their practice squad as his replacement. Previously, York played for the Washington Commanders for just one month before being let go.
When will Evan McPherson return to play for NFL?
Again, we’re still waiting for updates about the severity of Evan McPherson’s injury. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that he has been placed on the Bengals’ injured list. Over the next few days, more medical examinations will provide fans with a better understanding of his condition.
To strengthen a team dealing with numerous injuries on their roster, the Bengals have elevated offensive tackle Andrew Stueber from their practice squad to the active roster. The player was first signed by Cincinnati back in October 2024 but was subsequently waived and then re-signed to their practice squad. So far, Stueber has shown potential but lacks extensive experience, having participated in only four games during this season.
The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to face the Dallas Cowboys in their next NFL fixture.
