As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the series finale of Superman and Lois was nothing short of phenomenal! It was a heart-wrenching yet satisfying conclusion to an incredible journey.
As a dedicated gamer, let me tell you, the final episode of Superman & Lois was nothing short of spectacular! The climax packed quite a punch, wrapping up the Arrowverse with an audacious flourish that left me truly impressed.
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Superman & Lois series finale
In the climactic episode of “It Flew By So Quick,” Superman confronted Doomsday, supported by his sons. The fight was intense and grueling until Superman ultimately hurled Doomsday towards the sun. In its dying moments, Doomsday seemed to recall its past life on another Earth, which surprisingly touched Superman, as he sorrowfully watched the brief being within the monster get swallowed by the sun.
After addressing the impending Doomsday, the following event involved Lex Luthor donning an armored suit powered by Kryptonite. Recognizing Lex’s psychopathic nature, Amanda attempted to distance herself, only for him to attempt her life. Fortunately, Jordan and Jonathan intervened, rescuing her in the nick of time.
In this scenario, the two bitter rivals engaged in a fierce battle, and John Henry skillfully breached Lex’s protective suit to silence him. Ultimately, Superman overpowered Lex, and Lois recorded the event for the world to witness the horrifying reality of Lex’s monstrous nature.
Who got married in the Superman and Lois finale?
The narrative skipped ahead by a year, with Lois presiding over the wedding of Lana and John Henry. Everyone in Smallville attended this event, including Kyle and Chrissy who were anticipating the arrival of their second child. A heartwarming scene followed where Lana and Kyle expressed mutual happiness and had reconciled.
During the celebration, it was announced that Lex’s appeal had been turned down. This meant that Lex, who had been eagerly anticipating resuming control over his prison, found out instead that Bruno Mannheim now held the power. As a result, Lex found himself back in a dismal cell, seemingly facing a harsh and lengthy imprisonment.
What happened to the Superfamily?
The final act was a beautifully done coda with Clark narrating how the world was in rough shape and needed guidance. The Kents provided it with Lois becoming an advocate while Clark was shown flying with his sons in Superboy costumes, John Henry as Steel (in a suit just like his comic book counterpart complete with cape) and Natalie in her own suit as Starlight.
Over the years, Jonathan and Jordan matured, tied the knot, and established their own families. As Clark’s abilities gradually weakened, he and Lois savored their tranquil existence…until Lois’ cancer resurfaced. This time, she was unable to overcome it, passing away peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side.
After feeling lost for quite some time, I eventually welcomed a new companion into my life – a dog named Krypto. As I entered retirement, we became inseparable. However, fate had other plans, and my human heart succumbed to the pressures, leading to a heart attack, tragically on the same street where my father had passed away before me. My sons were by my side as Superman took his final breaths.
Young Clark got up from his bed and walked through the farmhouse. He said goodbye to the spirits of Lana, John Henry, Kyle, and Chrissy. He also reconciled with Lex’s spirit. As the series concluded, Jonathan and Jordan opened the door to reveal Lois, looking young and elegant in a beautiful dress. Clark then warmly greeted her, and they both hugged.
Why the ending of Superman and Lois worked
As a gaming enthusiast, I recently chatted with Brent Fletcher, the mastermind behind our favorite Superman series. In an exclusive interview, he let us in on the fact that the ending they’ve crafted for our show was a vision they held onto from the very start. It serves as a nod to the audience, reminding us all that it’s not just the superpowers, but the “human” element that truly made this Superman series shine.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share our rationale behind Clark Kent’s poignant finale. We’ve always taken great pride in making Clark relatable and as human as possible. Giving him the profound journey of witnessing his life, including his death, mirrors an experience shared by every person. Joining him on this journey felt captivatingly intriguing to us. Initially, some were apprehensive about the emotional weight of such a storyline, fearing it would be too sad given the intensity of the season. However, we believed that if presented in the right way, it wouldn’t just tug at heartstrings but inspire. After all, death is an inevitable part of life, but focusing on the tale of life and its worth could make the ending all the more poignant. The icing on the cake was the final scene, where he reunites with Lois. That tender moment seemed to soften the sadness just enough.
His words resonate strongly with many fans, reflecting their sentiments. The central focus of the show has consistently been the relationship between Clark and Lois, with their love story serving as the heart of the series. This connection also underscores the show’s other main theme: family. Characters like Jonathan and Jordan embody this idea by not only being heroes but also exceptional fathers, living fulfilling lives that extend beyond heroism to being good men.
It was equally enjoyable to witness positive developments for characters such as Lana, John Henry, Kyle, and Chrissy. Moreover, the way Lex’s story concluded was fitting, with his downfall leading to a living nightmare of a life sentence. Yet, there was also a poignant moment where Clark showed mercy towards Lex, which was consistent with his character.
Fans may have hoped for additional episodes or guest appearances from other Arrowverse characters to conclude this fantastic series, but compared to the confusing ending of “The Flash,” this was exceptional. It was deeply emotional and impactful due to the exceptional acting, which places “Superman & Lois” among the top superhero TV shows ever made.
