As a seasoned observer of Tinseltown’s tumultuous tapestry, I must say that the latest turn of events involving Vignesh Shivan and his Twitter disappearing act has piqued my interest. While it is natural for public figures to face criticism, the question surrounding his inclusion in the Pan-India Directors’ Round Table seems a bit overblown. After all, every director’s journey towards pan-Indian cinema might not be a linear one, and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal could very well be considered an early step on that path.
News has circulated that Nayanthara’s spouse and director, Vignesh Shivan, has been in the limelight again. This time, people are talking about him closing down his Twitter account. Reports indicate this might be due to criticism stemming from his participation in a roundtable discussion on cross-regional films or the ongoing court case with Dhanush.
In 2024, Vignesh Shivan participated in The Galatta Plus Mega All-India Directors’ Round Table, an event reported by Hindustan Times. However, his participation sparked debate as some critics questioned his involvement due to the fact that his latest film, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, was not a nationwide project.
It’s said that the interviewer encountered criticism due to their selection of guests. Meanwhile, Vignesh hasn’t spoken out regarding the deactivation of his Twitter account. Nevertheless, he continues to post content on his Instagram profile.
Another possible explanation might be that his ongoing dispute with Dhanush about the documentary titled “Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale” could also be a factor in his actions.
As reported by The Hindu, Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, has initiated a lawsuit against actors Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, as well as their company Rowdy Pictures. The complaint alleges that they incorporated visuals from the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in a Netflix documentary without permission. Furthermore, Dhanush’s company also requested the High Court to allow them to take legal action against Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, which oversees Netflix’s content investments in India.
Given that Los Gatos operates out of Mumbai, Dhanush asked the court to use certain relevant laws. The court agreed, stating that an essential aspect of the case fell under its purview. Now, Jawan actress must address the matter during the upcoming court hearing.
The argument between Dhanush and Nayanthara about the inappropriate use of NRD footage has turned into a significant issue. Dhanush claimed the footage was utilized without the necessary permissions, calling for its deletion as well as a compensation amounting to 100 crores rupees.
Nayanthara countered with a detailed three-page missive, alleging that Dhanush harbors a personal grievance against her. Furthermore, she asserted that the video in question was obtained from private devices. Regrettably, this disagreement has led to tension in both their personal and professional lives.
