Instead, it’s thought that Miranda was engrossed in composing the songs for Mufasa: The Lion King, which was due for release in theaters on December 20. This likely accounts for his absence from contributing to the songs of the Moana sequel.
Miranda, who’s deeply connected to the Moana franchise, was recently confirmed by Dwayne Johnson in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, to be contributing to the music for the live-action remake of Moana, scheduled for release in 2026. Johnson will also reprise his role as Maui in this upcoming production.
