As a dedicated follower of Tamil cinema and having witnessed the twists and turns of the industry for quite some time now, I must say that the saga of Ajith Kumar’s 62nd movie has been nothing short of intriguing. Vignesh Shivan’s revelation about his shelved project with the superstar, which was supposed to be in the same vein as Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham, certainly piqued my curiosity.
Originally, it was planned that Vignesh Shivan would direct Ajith Kumar’s 62nd movie, but later Magizh Thirumeni took over for Vidaa Muyarchi. In a recent conversation with Galatta Plus, the director disclosed that if his film had been made, it would have shared similar themes as Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham.
Regarding the abandoned project, Vignesh Shivan disclosed that Ajith Kumar had expressed his admiration for the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan to him in the past. It seems that the star was captivated by the way the film was presented and the portrayal of the character Killivalavan, played by R Parthiban.
During those conversations, the actor requested the director to write a script featuring a similar somber mood for his character. Decades later, Ajith Kumar remained faithful to his promise and commissioned Vignesh Shivan to direct his 62nd movie.
Initially, it seemed that the creators of the superstar’s 62nd project were planning to make a movie featuring Ajith Kumar. In a recent discussion, Vignesh revealed that when he pitched his idea, the producers responded with questions about why the film was so comedic and suggested that it should instead focus more on emotions and a strong message.
Due to this situation, the director position on the project AK62 was changed, eventually being assumed by Magizh Thirumeni. The film, now known as “Vidaa Muyarchi,” is a future movie of the superstar, and its first promotional teaser has just been released.
For over a minute, the actor performs exhilarating action scenes filled with gripping momentum. This action-packed thriller features spectacular stunts, with Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and several others taking on crucial roles.

The film is rumored to be a cinematic version of Kurt Russell’s Breakdown, though an official announcement from the producers has not been given yet. Additionally, the upcoming movie will feature music by Anirudh Ravichander and is set to premiere in theaters for Pongal 2025.
Meanwhile, director Vignesh Shivan is also preparing for the launch of his upcoming movie, titled Love Insurance Kompany (LIK). This film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty as the main characters. It’s rumored to be a mix of science fiction and romantic comedy.
