As an ardent fan who has witnessed the meteoric rise of Sivakarthikeyan in Tamil cinema, I must say that the anticipation for his latest cinematic offering, Amaran, was palpable from the moment it was announced. The film’s phenomenal run in theaters and its upcoming debut on Netflix is a testament to both the actor’s charisma and the compelling storyline.
As a dedicated follower, I’m thrilled to share that the movie starring Sivakarthikeyan, titled Amaran, had an extraordinary theater run following its release on October 31, 2024. Now, it appears this film is primed for its OTT debut, having completed its five-week stint in cinemas.
According to Hindustan Times, the film starring SK is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 5, 2024. But, it’s important to note that neither the producers nor the streaming service have officially confirmed this release date yet.
Previously, it was mentioned that the movie’s OTT release was postponed because of its successful stint in cinemas. Normally, Netflix unveils films on their streaming service once the required theatrical run has concluded.
As a dedicated follower of Tamil cinema, I found it intriguing that movies such as Bagheera, Lucky Baskhar, Brother, and Bloody Beggar, all released on the same day as Amaran, have already made their debuts on various online platforms. Remarkably, this was Netflix’s first move to delay a Tamil movie’s OTT release, even though its theatrical window had closed.
In this rephrased version, the movie titled “Amaran” features Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi as its main characters, and it’s inspired by the brave true tale of Major Mukund Varadarajan. This hero made the ultimate sacrifice for his nation during a counter-terrorism mission. The movie is an adaptation from the book “India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes,” written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which contains a chapter about the fallen soldier.
The biographical war film, helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy, is garnering praise from both critics and viewers. Besides Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, the movie boasts performances from Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, and Shreekumar Ganesh in key roles.
Moving forward, it’s been announced that Sivakarthikeyan will be the main actor in a film provisionally known as SK23 or SKxARM, helmed by AR Murugadoss. This upcoming project, which seems to be an action-packed thriller, is expected to have Rukmini Vasanth from Bagheera in the female lead role. Anirudh Ravichander will be responsible for creating the film’s music.
Moving forward, actor SK is about to start filming for SK24, a project overseen by director Cibi Chakravarthy of the Don films. Furthermore, there are rumors that he might collaborate with director Sudha Kongara for SK25 following this shoot.
Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi is gearing up to take on the lead part in the upcoming movie titled Thandel. She’ll be sharing the screen with Naga Chaitanya in this production. The scheduled release date for the film is February 7, 2025.
